Is This The End?

End of the world?

Last Friday, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake rocked the waters off eastern Japan, creating a massive tsunami which swept through most eastern areas of Japan. As I watched the news on the TV in the office, I was wondering "what happened?" Videos show the tsunamis sweeping across the fields and residential areas like what you would see on when waves wash up the shorelines, just that now it is magnified many times over. It also reminded me of the movie "Japan Sinks" I watched several years ago. It was really like a disaster movie shown on the news. As of now, more than 1800 people are confirmed dead and more than 10000 missing. And the threat of a nuclear meltdown which could kill even more people once the nuclear radiation is released into the atmosphere. Not even people as far away as here in Singapore will be spared.

I've been watching the news and reading on the latest developments in Japan. Why am I so concerned? Japan really is one of the nicest place to travel in. And it's cultures and picturesque scenery is a must-see in one's lifetime. Our favourite animes and dramas originated from there. So let's hope no further calamities befall on the land of the rising sun.

One of the world's most favourite travel locations is now a land of graves. Let's hope the rescue workers can find more survivors. Be strong Japan!

But just over a month ago Christchurch of New Zealand also experienced a giant earthquake killing 100+ people. Armageddon is coming? Is this what humans deserve for killing the planet? Are we gonna see more devastating natural disasters in the future? I don't wish to find out. Let's hope Mother Nature has stopped venting her anger for good.
