TGIF

It's Friday once again! Time to rest! Haven't had a good rest for a long time. No time to update my blog even if I wanted to...so now's the chance. Cos it's gonna be a long and tiring but surely fun weekend ahead.

17th September 2010, Friday

The long awaited Digital Nights was finally here! Well I think only me and Jocelyn were looking forward to it, cos we were the ones who discovered this event some time earlier. I decided to organize this outing to capture some pix at this event. Gathered the photo enthusiasts in the office to go for this outing. Eventually there were Aaron, Joce, Joy, Kiwi, Serene, Kian Hong, Leo, Peiying who turned up for this first ever Digital Nights held at the Singapore Art Museum. Was expecting more works on display but there were quite a few only. Nothing compared to Night Festival. But still, some of the works on display were quite interesting.

Lazy to edit and upload so many pix that I already uploaded onto FB haha, so here are only a few of them:
We decided to go for drinks after shooting so many pix. So we ended up walking to Timbre @ Old School. The band only managed to play a few songs only before the staff shooed us out of Timbre at around 1am+. We barely sat there for an hour! So we decided to walk all the way back to Selegie and settled down at Mr. Bean. There we had an interesting gossip session. So fun to listen to all the gossips lol. Best thing is, we left at 4am, and I had to wake up at 8:30am later! Bester thing is Joce and I even went to have breakfast because we were so freaking hungry! Eat already went home and sleep at 6:30am! Bestest thing is only 2 hours of sleep! How to wake up later!?

18th September 2010, Saturday

Well, it's just 2 hours after the previous line actually lol. I went to this Alliance Francaise at Somerset. Was asked by Nic to watch this premiere of "Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: Awakening of the Trailblazer". It's shown at 10am, the earliest session we can watch the movie, meaning we're the first people in Singapore and the whole world to watch the movie! Was late for a few minutes, but luckily didn't miss quite a lot. Wasn't very impressed with the movie. I would give just 2.5 stars for it's not-up-to-standard graphics, lousy plot etc. Li Teng and some of Nic's friends bought some limited edition GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] for $34 only!
The management decided to make it only 5 sets per screening and removed them totally from the display areas when we came out of the theatre. Poor Nic was so disappointed because he didn't buy it before the movie started. He got a 3D poster though. We then went for lunch before I proceeded to Gah Mee's house at The Pinnacle@Duxton for her baby Zachary's baby shower.

Zachary got a stylo sideburn!

There were plenty of people in Gah Mee's house, including several babies. Sharon and Erwin also brought Giselle along. Peiying, Weiqin, Shirlyn, Kian Hong were there too. Even Melville was there. I took a few pictures and then left the place, to go to Jeremy's place which is just at the next block.

Tham's unit is on the 9th floor, whereas Gah Mee's is on the 34th. From the 9th floor, can't really see much scenery. Tham just moved in not long ago, so it's pretty neat and tidy. His wife, Fangxuan, was in her wedding gown. It was the first time I met her. Very beautiful in person indeed, especially in a wedding gown lol. Tham had changed out of his suit and was resting until I knocked on their door to disturb them of their rest lol. Yijie was also around, who was Tham's official photographer. He was using a 5D Mark II I think.

We chatted around before they decided to go for their shoots around the house and on the rooftop. I tagged along to shoot a few pix together with Yijie.
After the shoot ended at about 5:30pm, I went to look for Li Teng at The Promontory @ Marina Bay. Was damn shag by then cos of only two hours of sleep, but was determined to go for the Kite Festival anyway. When I reached, there were a gazillions of kites in the sky already. Looks like the whole of Singapore's kite-lovers were there to fly their kites at this annual festival. Was wondering how they manage to not entangle their kites together. Well actually I did witness some kites getting all entangled up in a mess lol. I ain't a big fan of kites. Don't even remember flying a kite, or even if I did, when I flew a kite. Shall try it one of these days!

We went around individually to shoot. But for the most of the time I was sitting at the sides resting my tired mind and body. Didn't really shoot a lot but I think it was enough for the day. As the sun set, kites of various designs with LEDs could be seen. There were a few which I thought were pretty small, were actually quite huge when I went up close to see the actual size. Some had LEDs laid out in concentric circles and multi-coloured LEDs light up the whole kite in different patterns. It was quite enjoyable to witness such beautiful sights.

The event ended at 8pm and so we walked to MBS to check out for any nice eateries. In the end we found nothing edible there and so ended up taking a bus to Funan for Pastamania lol. Then it's home sweet home to concuss till the next day...

19th September 2010, Sunday

Didn't have much rest... And had to go for Tham's wedding lunch at Grand Park City Hall. There were plenty of AHS people as well as FDS guys who turned up at the wedding lunch. Wedding lunch/dinners always felt like mini gatherings. See all the familiar faces. Come to think of it I also know Tham for so long already. Since Sec 1 in scouts, and also were in the same JC, army, uni. 16 years omg! Lucky Tham to marry such a beautiful girl. Lucky Fangxuan too cos Tham is a really nice chap. So when's my turn? Ahahaha!

Took the chance to take a few pix with my old pals. Wonder when we'll meet again. Maybe the next wedding lol.

After the lunch, I had some time to spare before meeting Liyang they all for dinner, so I decided to go to the Kite Festival again. Shaun also wanted to take a walk, so together we walked all the way to The Promontory. Had a bit of catch up session with him. He's got a girlfriend recently! Nice one dude!

There were fewer people on Sunday, the 2nd and last day of the Kite Festival. And I bumped into many people, like Jocelyn and Kiwi, who BO JIO me! As well as Chan Chee Wei and Tat Yeong. Weren't many nice kites around, and it was damn hot and humid. We sat around chatting till 5:30pm before we went to take the trains.
One of the performers playing on a harp! My favourite musical instrument.

I met up with Li Teng, Liyang and Selina at City Square Mall to try out the Kichi Kichi Rotary steamboat restaurant. Cost about $28 per person including one drink. I always think steamboats were 大同小异, the only difference between each restaurant is the way food is served, the variety of food, and the soup base. For Kichi Kichi, the conveyor belt is quite nice but certainly I wouldn't pay extra to go there again just for the convenience of no need to grab food ourselves.
Kichi Kichi
Couldn't really move after eating so much at the wedding lunch, and THEN at Kichi Kichi. It's buffet you know? I'm a glutton!

Next up, I went to Clarke Quay to meet Aaron and gf at Brewerkz. He finally found a place at Clarke Quay where we can sit and watch the match between Manchester United and Liverpool. When I reached it was already 15 minutes into the game. Luckily there weren't any goals yet. A highly up-tempo game with plenty of action. Liverpool was clearly the POO of the night. They managed to get two goals courtesy of Steven Gerrard's free kick and penalty kick. Man U on the other hand had Berbatov doing a hat-trick to secure 3 precious points for the Red Devils. Awesome performance from him.

I realized that there was some "special" at Brewerkz if you check-in using Foursquare. If you check-in with a tip, you can get either free fries or onion rings with any purchase! How awesome is that!? So I actually did the thing and we got ourselves quite a big basket of fries absolutely free! Cool stuff! That got me to check-in at almost everywhere I went after that hahaha.
Jocelyn and Kiwi also came to meet up after their meal, so we walked along Clarke Quay for a while before going home.
Rooster rules!
On our way home, Aaron told me to shoot this guy sleeping in such a funny posture. The lady beside him knew that I was shooting him and tried to siam. She looks a bit buay song cos she knows I'll surely capture her in my picture as well lol.
Phew finally finished my long-winded post! Still have the mid-autumn festival post to be updated! Will update once I get my hands on the pix that Aaron took for us hehehe.
