Gatherings Weekend

It's another weekend of gatherings. And of course Sunday is slacking day. Only Mapled today and nothing much... My 2x is over. What!? So fast 1 month finish liao. ZZzz...

15th February 2008, Friday
Right after work, I went to meet Charles and Zhichao at City Hall MRT station. It was a pretty last minute notice from Zhichao, who only SMSed us the previous night at 12 midnight! Nevertheless since I won't be DotAing with Guanming and gang, I joined the Blk 22 gang instead.

We chose the Japanese restaurant Beppu Menkan near the Suntec Fountain of Wealth. Haven't tried it before, and I always thought it's a Chinese restaurant. LOL... The menu consisted of mostly ramen. You could choose spiciness levels of 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 chillies. As a lover of spicy food, I thought I shall try the 6 chilli one, though Zhichao and Charles only chose the 4 chillies. When I tasted the gravy, I almost lost my tongue. Wahaha! It's super ultra hot! I wonder how the 8 chilli ones will taste like. So the rest of the people arrived later on. There's Ken, Zhongming, Chin Keat, Kong Hooi, Huiwen, Jason, Seng Kwee and Junie. We chatted over dinner and then decided to go to DXO for drinks. It's the famous place for those towers of beer. Each tower costs only $20. Pretty shiokz. We ordered like 3 towers of beer for the 10 of us. Ken left earlier, so there's 10 of us left. Anyway I was wondering why the whole of Suntec was so empty on a Friday night. When we walked on to Marina Square, it was all so empty too. Kinda weird. As we walked over to the Esplanade, we then realized that there was the rehearsal for Chingay festival. There was a group made up of Darth Vader and a troop of stormtroopers. LOL... What has Star Wars got to do with Chingay?!? Anyway we got a seat immediately since the place wasn't crowded. However our voices were drowned by the deafening sounds from the Chingay performers on the road, which was closed and we had to take the underpass to reach DXO. We slacked over the 3 towers of beer until almost midnight, before we called it a day.

17th February 2008, Saturday

Woke up early in the morning to take 969 to Khatib to meet up the GIP gang. I met up with Alan, Hock Seng and Wenyao. Wenyao then drove us to somewhere quite far for lunch, which we decided on kampong chicken. The restaurant itself was called "Kampong Chicken". We ordered one whole kampong chicken, some tofu, which wasn't tofu at all, and beansprouts. Wasn't as fascinating as we thought. Still had plenty of fats all around the chicken. What's worse was that the final bill amounted to $40+. First and last time.

We then went all the way back to Yishun MRT station to pick up Naizhu and Kim. Then we reached Wenyao's house after travelling and waiting for almost two hours in Wenyao's car. Wenyao's house was humongous! Rich man indeed. His mother, who is an exact photocopy of Wenyao's face, welcomed us into their house. We went touring around his house, which was probably 4 storeys high, can't remember, since it's plenty of spiraling staircases around. We walked all the way to the rooftop and then back down. Wenyao's mother was very hospitable and kept giving us drinks and telling us to eat all the new year goodies found on the living room table. Then the highlight of the day was Nintendo Wii! Hock Seng brought his set for us to play the day away. The set was quickly set up and we immediately started playing all the fun games that the Wii has to offer. I played until my arms really ached sia... Later on in the day, Rongxuan, Zhenhao, Nana, Eng Tat joined us. We also played mahjong and black jack later on when everyone arrived. Rongxuan had teamed up with Wenyao to be bankers and they actually lost some money, until the last round, when everyone showed hand. They got a black jack!!! They recouped their losses and even made a killing. LOL... What a disaster for everyone. T.T

Wenyao's mother prepared dinner for us and therefore we couldn't reject her hospitality. The dinner consisted of beehoon, chicken wings, veggies and green bean soup. Shiokzzz... making me hungry now. It was an awesome homecooked dinner. After dinner we played Wii again, this time it's Mario Party or something. 4 of us could play at the same time. The games were mini-games in which you had to fight against the other people. There were very interesting party games, as well as silly ones too. Makes me more gian to get a Wii for myself wahahha! Then they also decided to watch movies later on in the night. Too bad I couldn't join them, since I had another place to go to. They wanted to watch Jumper some more! A movie which I wanted to watch too. We took a picture at Wenyao's house, which looks like a family portrait, if you ask me.

Then me and Naizhu left the house at 8pm. He had to go to Bugis for some family gathering, while I dropped off at Ang Mo Kio Hub to meet up the MKG people. It's the first time I went to AMK Hub, and therefore felt a bit lost looking for them. Peiyi, Siying, Uncle, Yaokun and his girlfriend were there. Sia Leong then arrived and brought us over to his new home, which was about 5 minutes walk from AMK Hub. His unit was at the 17th floor, but I suggested going to the top floor, the 28th floor, to see the view. We all went up, except Sia Leong himself. It was a magnificent view. All the millions of lights from the other HDB flats around. And it sure was windy. Shiokz sia. Then we went back down to Sia Leong's home. We also were given a short tour around his new home. Quite a spacious 4-room unit. What was interesting was that Sia Leong and his wife actually slept in the non-master bedroom, which had only two small single beds. The master bedroom had a king-sized bed which he claimed that they don't use at all.

Anyway we then sat around the sofas chatting around, waiting for Peyyong to arrive. The TV was showing Chingay 2008, boringzz... When Peyyong finally arrived, we started our Lou Hei. Sia Leong's wife returned just after we made a mess of their dining table. However she retired to her room and didn't join us to eat. We ate and chatted until 11+ or so before we left. Another Saturday gone. But pretty interesting day. The bad thing is I skipped Japanese lessons, and even failed to meet up Hongsheng, Hongming and Wenqiang, which I had planned to meet. Too much activities on the same day. Hmm...
