HaPpY 牛 YeAr tO aLL!~!

恭喜发财!新的一年又要来了!祝大家财源广进,身体健康,心想事成!

Leaving for Malaysia on Saturday therefore can't leave a post just before the eve of Chinese New Year. Therefore decided to post one right now.

Anyway heard a very nice song called Planetarium, sung by Ai Otsuka. It's from the Hana Yori Dango OST. And somehow I found interesting video on YouTube.

This video shows RIKKI's Sutekidane, which is from Final Fantasy X OST. Interestingly, both music videos look very similar in terms of the way it is produced. All the scenes match each other, as if they used the same frames for the videos. In any case both songs are awesome. Nice!

Come On and Dance

After hearing this song for several times on Digitally Imported's Eurodance channel, and being unable to find it anywhere else except on Imeem, I've decided to just include the Imeem player here. Everyone can then hear this feel good song everytime they visit! Woohoo! Come on and dance!

Banks Going Low, Low, Low, Low

That's right. As I'm writing right now, the shares of US banks like Citigroup and Bank of America are going down. So much so that leads me to think what will happen to the banks in Singapore? More or less affected by the situation in the US I guess. Just take a look at all the banks around the world. I went to research on the past records of these two US banks and found that they have dropped so drastically from exactly one year ago. Citigroup fell from as high as $30 to less than $4, whereas Bank of America fell from as high as $45 to the present $8, that's more than 80% each! This is madness! (This is SPARTAAA!) And why the hell am I still trying to get a banking job? Who knows I might get retrenched the very next day I join them.

I went to a job agency today because I was told by the consultant that she may have some banking jobs at hand for me. So I went down to the agency today just for a quick chat with her. Diaoz... Then just nice Weiyang had a half-day leave and was in Tampines Ikea, therefore he looked for me for a short meet-up. So I went back to Tampines to meet him for a drink at Mac. Saw his girlfriend's photo on his handphone. Looks like he found gold, based on what he told me. That's great! Nice to see him finally getting a girlfriend. When is my turn? Hahaha!

Advanced I はじめました!

It's been half a year's break from studying Japanese. And here I am starting on Advanced I at JCS! Holy shyt quite a long of things haven't learn before because I think the syllabus for NTU's 2nd level course is not enough to match the Intermediate level of JCS. And my half a year at Tenrikyo is also not enough too. Now the only way to is study more to catch up with the class. O_o Saw Weixiong there who was taking Basic level. Yew Hwee was there for Intermediate, and Jiahao and I taking Advanced I. My classmates include people from all walks of life - bankers, auditors, chefs, soccer coaches, engineers, students etc. And the first lesson was spent on introducing ourselves mainly. Quite a waste of time, however it's a good gauge to know the standards of everyone in the class. Some are very fluent and presented themselves through very chim sentences. Steady sia. There's even a French banker who has a Japanese wife! Awesome!

10-01-09

Nice date? Hmm...

Went for an SGX seminar with Edwin. Wah SGX Centre and its seminar rooms and everything else inside is so "class". All the monitors and computers in their trading rooms, the cafes, the lobby all damn chio. The seminar room ok lah normal. The speaker was someone named Tom. The way he presented no doubt catches everyone's attention. His words and gesture throughout the presentation was so captivating that even when Edwin and I had slept for only a few hours the night before also managed to stay awake. He gave us a rich insight into his 17 years of experience as a trader and also several words of wisdom. Truly a very enriching experience for us.

After that we went to have lunch at PS before we went to The Cathay with Jiahao to watch Red Cliff Part 2. Just as expected of any John Woo movies, there was plenty of action and explosions. However if I were to give Part 1 a 4-star rating, Part 2 would be a 3-star only. Much of the storyline were quite twisted from the history books. There were many additional (redundant) scenes which could jolly-well be deleted from this 142-mins long sequel. I still very much prefer Part 1, with all its battle scenes and plot.

After the movie, we went to 2902 Gallery to check out whether there would be any exhibitions. Alas, it's closed. So we walked around Old School and then went down the endless flight of stairs, wanting to go to the National Museum of Singapore just to sightsee. And zhunzhun met Kah Wai just after we finished our descent. He just finished a gym session and was about to go home. Therefore he joined us for our short trip to the NMS and together we explored most of the place. All the exhibition rooms were free entry, even though there were gantries at the front of each room. There was a special area whereby an artpiece that uses a machine to produce giant bubbles. Excellent idea and a great picture-taking opportunity! I didn't bring my digicam, therefore just my iPhone camera to do the work.
I took pictures of the swinging chandeliers again. This time I took the other variations of their swinging - alternate swinging. I think there's another which all swing at the same time from left to right, rather than in a snakelike pattern, however I didn't wait for that variation to appear, cos I think it was taking too long!

Beach Cabana At ECP

Ahh it's past midnight again. Anyway had a small drinking session with Charles, Jiajun, Jason, Kaiyang, as well as Charles' other friends like Marcus and Jamie. Where else did we go but Beach Cabana? Damn shiok to cycle down there again during such nice weather. Cycled back at 4+am. Come to think of it. Recently I've been to ECP several times, same goes for Marina Barrage. Think there's nowhere else to go in Singapore liao hmm... Boring!!!

Argh!! Missed The First Day of 2009!

Shish! Was busy crapping with Jason, Charles and Lilin on MSN. Wanted to write a post before the day ends. Oh well... Anyway it's the year 2009!!!!! Let's hope for better things to come!

31st December 2008, Wednesday, New Year's Eve

Liyang picked Boon Leong, Kim Mong and me up outside BL's place. Then together with his wife, Selina, we went to Punggol Marina Country Club for seafood. It's the super ulu place at the edge of Punggol where people can go for wakeboarding and other sea sports. We almost couldn't find the super ulu restaurant, which was at the extreme end of the place. Quite a lok kok place but still quite a spacious place because the tables were in the middle of a big plot of land next to the sea. The soup base for our steamboat buffet was some tonic with wolfberries. Quite healthy cos no MSG was thrown in, and we didn't get thirsty easily. Food variety was so-so. Liyang and wife brought wine along so we had some chardonnay for dinner.
Kim Mong had to leave earlier to meet his gf. We only found out that he got a new gf for 2 months only. Now who told me KM is getting married?!? So the four of us ate some more until we could hardly move. Then the plan was to go to Dempsey Hill for Ben & Jerry's ice-cream! I haven't been there before so it was quite a good idea. Somehow along the way Jacelyn and her friends had no other plans and therefore they also came over to join us at Dempsey.
I didn't have much space for lotsa ice-cream, therefore I only ordered a single scoop of Coconut-Layer-dunno-what flavour. Then BL had to go off to check on his delinquent kids. He had to make sure the kids were at home when he went to their house for checks. Tough work man. On a NYE some more. Then KM and gf, as well as Jacelyn and friends arrived at the same time. Suddenly we became a group of 8 people. It was almost 12 midnight soon, therefore we had to give up any ideas of counting down at those party areas. The restaurants and pubs in Dempsey Hill had their own countdowns once the time reached 12 midnight. A not so crowded and rowdy countdown for me this year. This is rather good compared to having to squeeze with loads of Banglas along the Esplanade. LOL! No chance to take nice fireworks pix though. We toured around DH until our next plan. Go to Marina Barrage! It's my 3rd time there within like a month? LOL! Still a nice place to chill out.

Once we got there, the crowd had started to leave the place. I didn't know that there was a celebration going on at the MB. They even setup stages and stalls, had live bands and stuff. Should have been quite fun there, but damn crowded too I suppose. I immediately set off to be in trigger-happy mode. Still lotsa nice shots to be taken at that place.
So we sat and chatted and admired the beauty of Singapore's CBD skyline, as well as MB itself, before going home. It's 2009! Woohoo!
