Fantasy Scifi Soccer Weekend!

What a good way to enjoy the weekend!

Just back from a long day of Jap lesson, Iron Man 2 and Chelsea vs LiverBOO!

30th April 2010, Friday

Who would have thought that someone would actually create a video games and anime concert, right here in Singapore? After I missed all those video game concerts like Video Games Live, I tell myself I shall not miss another one! And this time it's the inaugural Fantasy Comes Alive! concert held at NUS UCC. And luckily Nicholas mentioned about it that he was going to this concert. I would never have heard of this thing coz it seems like there isn't much publicity about this concert. Luckily I went to help out PY for the volunteer shooting last weekend. Looks like 好心是有好报的 haha.
I also managed to jio Zhongming and Kong Hooi along, who were also quite hardcore gamers. Nic was able to get half price tix for us so we all got the $50 tix. What a bargain! It's a total of $25 + $3 booking fee for a $50 seat. We were at row M, which is considered very near already. The VIPs were seated in the same rows as us. The composer for several games like FF12 and FF Tactics was just a short distance from us. He went up to stage to say a few words and everyone cheered ecstatically for him.
The songs played were from very popular games and animes, with those notable ones and those that I have heard/watched are Chrono Cross, Castlevania, Bleach, Neon Genesis Evangelion, FF8, Megaman, Tetris. I was unfamiliar with the other half of the playlist but it was still quite an enjoyment. Those musicians on stage were truly brilliant, with some of them playing a solo part in some of the songs. I snapped a few pix inside the hall and also recorded some songs using my digicam, but someone more pro actually recorded everything and posted them on YouTube the very next day hahaha!
The whole concert lasted for around three hours! Woot what a steal! They gave us encores after encores. Played the opening to Neon Genesis Evangelion again at the end. It's the one I love the most out of all the songs. And here's the video of that song which someone took and posted on YouTube!

At the end of the concert, there was a queue to get autographs from Hitoshi Sakimoto himself. Nic and all his enthu frenz all queued up for the autographs, so I also joined in to get it hahaha. They even got interviewed by the crew of Animax and they were so enthu to shout some slogans for them. Woot awesome! Hope to see more interesting and popular songs next year!

2nd May 2010, Sunday

After Jap lesson, I went to watch Iron Man 2 with JH, KW, NZ, Kim and Nana at Iluma. Hmm not much plot for this movie, no wonder so many people said Part 1 was better. The post-credits scene showed Thor's weapon, meaning another sequel is coming up. Marvel superheroes sure make good money.

We guys then had dinner at Empire State, before NZ went to meet his frenz at Yishun while the rest of us went to meet KW's frenz at Boat Quay, all for one purpose - to watch the Chelsea vs LiverBOO match. Initially KW wanted to go to the Chelsea pub Turnstyles but it was pretty full already, so we ended up at The Penny Black. Quite a cool place just good enough to watch a nice game of soccer. But it all turned out that LiverBOO was there to give the championship to Chelsea instead. Gerrard actually did a backpass but got intercepted by Drogba and poor Reina had no chance of saving it at all. Then Lampard finished it off to make it 2-0. Game over! Lol KW was enjoying the match while the LiverBOO fans can only hide their faces in shame.
