Weekend of Explorations

Explore new places everyday. Nice! Today went to Ken's housewarming party at The Premiere. Most of the Block 22 guys were there. They had a lunch catering outside their house. Chin Keat and Kong Hooi were also back in Singapore, and KH now even stays temporarily at Ken's new home until he finds a job. So we hid inside one of the spare rooms to talk cok and let them copy some of the movies I brought over. Then we also celebrated Zhichao's birthday. I then went over to Huimin's house which is just next block. Fwah they really must have spent a bomb on their home. Lavishly-decorated interiors and plenty of accessories all over the house. Out of all the three homes I've been to for the last two days, theirs was DA BOMB. Next time got chance then go over take pix. I just stayed there for a while to see see their new home, and also browsed through their wedding photos which obviously were worth loads of money too. They had 4 wedding albums OMG.

I then left to go for my Jap lessons as usual. There's Kanji test today. And term exam next week! Ganbatte!

24th July 2009, Friday

Met up with Kah Wai after work to take our Citi shuttle to Tanah Merah MRT. We then went on to the new ION at Orchard. Woot the moment we came out of Orchard MRT, there's a new row of gantries which lead directly inside ION. Fwah we were amazed by the touch sensor screen directories. They even had 3D visualizations of showing you how to get from one point to another. Freaking cool.

We then walked over to 鹿港小镇, a Chinese restaurant, to meet Claire, who was queuing up already. We ordered the Guitar Duck, some crispy tofu, baby cabbage, and Gougei (read Cantonese) soup. The duck was quite good, very crispy. Then the soup was not bad either. However the crispy tofu that came next looked rather different from what was being shown on the menu. I merely commented on "how come so dark colour one ah?" to the waitress and she immediately removed the dish to give us a new one. We thought it was pretty good service. But then another lady came back to ask if we were ok with that tofu, since the oil used to fry the tofu was already that dark already, therefore they can't give us whiter ones. We didn't really minded the colour, therefore she returned us the plate of tofu. Hmm... the tofu were diced a bit too small. Not enough 口感, and the taste and feel of the crispy exterior almost overpowers the little bit of white fleshy tofu on the inside. FAIL. The only saving grace was the Gougei soup and the Guitar Duck. Then we felt that the baby cabbage took too long to be served, so we asked one of the waitresses to hurry the serving of the dish. In the end we decided to just finish up everything else and go, since it seems that the dish wasn't coming at all. I then told one of them that we wanna cancel the dish. Then a guy in smart casual, who seemed to be the branch manager or something then came over to ask if we got our baby cabbage already, and pointed to the bowl of empty Gougei soup and said "oh isn't this the baby cabbage?" I was like O_____O|||... You don't even know whether you've served us a dish or not, and you don't even recognize which dish is which. FAIL. Then we just finished up everything and ready to pay the bill. It was then another waiter served us the baby cabbage. Hey dude! We've already cancelled the dish, and I think the manager still ngeh ngeh wanna serve us the dish. FAIL. Utter failure. Luckily we din eat the baby cabbage, cos our bill in the end amounted to $38.10 only. If added the baby cabbage, would have been $50. Ahahaha. Oh well, so much for a meal at the new ION. Next time shall try other restaurants.

We then went to find Jiahao who was coming to meet us. Then we explored all around the place. Amazing shopping centre. Definitely the best in terms of tenants, design, layout, and of course the bomb that the ION management spent on the whole building. We even checked out the toilet hahaha! Even before you go in, the sign that leads to the toilet sorta looked like those you would expect to see at clubs. Then the moment we stepped into the toilet, wacauz... I'm sure it'll put many 5-star hotels' toilets to shame. There's a toilet attendant inside, making sure everything was in tip-top condition, and there are little screens above every urinal. OFMG. We explored all around the place, then went to the food court at B4. Wah the decor was awesome too. Definitely beat Food Republic hands down. We ordered a bowl of dessert each and then sat and talk cok for quite long. Then we met up with Edwin at 11+, outside the ION. We went to check out KPO, wah looks like a nice place. But it was already 12 when we reached there and it closes at 1am. Therefore we went to check out other places. Will definitely go there soon.

So we ended up at Alley Bar. Never been there before, therefore it's quite a nice experience. It wasn't crowded at all, because most of the crowd were at Acid Bar. Oh well Alley was much quieter with lounge music playing in the background. We got some comfy seats and ordered some drinks and talked cock throughout the night. Most of the time we were talking about games ahahha. Edwin ordered plenty of alcohol. Wah power.. Most of the time he was drinking and munching away, quite unlike him. Hmm... In the end he fell asleep and therefore we decided to play a prank on him. We all secretly left the table and got the waiter to wake him up. He then told Edwin that we all left. Edwin then actually walked out of the place quite unsoberly and din realize that he actually walked past us. Wahaha...
25th July 2009, Saturday

Went over to Yongkang and Hwee Suan's home at The Premiere. Ya I've been to 3 homes at The Premiere already. LOL. It was like a mini 98S18 class gathering. I was the first to arrive. Then it was Soo Chyi and her bf. Then Suhaimi, Hanwen and wife as well as little Bennett. So kawaii!! Our very first 98S18 baby is already 6 months old some more. Others that arrived included Huimei and bf, Wenhan and gf. Everyone there was playing with little Bennett all the time. Then Esther joined us for a while and we then celebrated Huimei's birthday. Wah both days housewarming I go also got birthday celebrations. 2 birthdays on 2 housewarmings on 2 consecutive days at 2 different blocks at The Premiere. O_O YK and HS played great hosts by frying plenty of finger food while we enjoyed watching Transformers on their big plasma TV. They also played mahjong while I watched them play, and sometimes playing with little Bennett. A pretty nice gathering-cum-housewarming party. Then I walked home which took roughly 15 minutes. Super near lah. LOL.

The 5-Cent Coin

Wahaha funny story to share. Told MKG about it in our daily email discussions liao but it's still fun to share here too. Today I took the MRT to work as usual. So as usual I went to Tampines MRT and went up to the platform. Somehow I noticed a girl in black sitting at the seats. She was sitting down but with the whole front body bended down, like maybe too tired or what. Didn't think too much. So we got up the train and then coincidentally we both got down at Tanah Merah MRT station. Then we waited for the train to Expo. When the train arrived, she walked over to the train and a card dropped from her bag or something. So obviously I would just walk over to tell her "err you dropped something..." She looked rather expressionless, and picked up the card, then went into the train. I was thinking "walau why this girl never say thank you one?" But then again she was rather cute-looking hehe. So then I sat down on the 2-seater, while she was standing one row of seats away from me. Then we reached Expo and got off. And after tapping my card and going past the gantry, I as usual will turn backwards to my right to see whether there is the CBP shuttle bus waiting. When I turned around, all I saw was the girl in black just few steps behind me (and of course I also saw the bus). I think she might have thought that I was bio-ing her. But anyways I carried on walking and decided not to take the shuttle bus. So I reached the traffic light and waited to cross. Then the girl in black stood beside me and held out her clutched fist and told me "this is yours". I didn't know what it was but just held out my hand and she then dropped a 5-cent coin onto my hand. I was like "Huh? When did I drop a 5-cent coin?" Still bewildered by the 5-cent coin, I also didn't say "thank you" and we then proceeded to cross the road. Then I just walked on and she got left behind.

We (MKG) derived several conclusions on this morning's incident:
1) She's cool.
2) She's weird.
3) She's boliao.
4) She's cute.
5) She wanna pick me up. Wahahahha! (This one is I say one. Hahaha!)

Let's see what happens if I get to see her again. Hehehe...

Basketball + Beer = Saturday Gone

Nothing much to say this weekend. Just watched Helicopter and the Goblet of Fire Part 1 on TV. Wonder whether should watch the Half-Blood Prince or not, cos I've heard of many bad reviews for it lol.

18th July 2009, Saturday

Went to ACJC for basketball games for the Citi Euphoria 2009, a yearly sports event organized for Citi staff. Kns played a while only kena elbowed in my ribs. Now still aching. Sibeh rough sia. We managed to win our first knock-out round and progressed to the 2nd, but lost to the team made up of mainly Philipinos. So we left ACJC immediately after that match. Aaron dropped my at Bedok and I then took 69 to Tampines to meet up Wenqiang, Hongming, Wenhan and Yongkang at CS. Wenqiang had organized this mini-gathering before he leaves once again for Sweden. We spent some time talking cock there before we left.

Then I went home to take a long nap, before joining Jason and gang for dinner and then for drinking session. They had initially planned to go to Roomful of Blues at Prinsep, but it was full house! Therefore we ended up at Plasma, which was just few steps away. Quite a lot of people turned up for this drinking session jioed by Jason. There was Charles, Ah Seng, Adrian, Wilson, Kelson, Kelvin Chen and me. So we drank and sang the night away, also playing the Saboteur game that Ah Seng bought from Germany. An all guys' outing. Cham lah whole day only meet guys, where are all the girls? Hahaha! After the drinking session, the few of us left then went to have Tau Huay at the Rochor place, before going home at 2 or 3am or so. *hicks*

Another Gatherings Weekend

Just back from dinner at a Chinese Restaurant at Joo Chiat with family. Hmm it's bamboo-beaten noodles or something like that. They also had 炒金针菇 which is rather nice. Like some cracker hehe but nice. 4 people eat until $50+ or so. Ok lah I guess. 美食鉴定团: 值得

炒金针菇 is the bottom right dish. Quite nice.

10th July 2009, Friday

Another GIP mini-gathering organized by Alan. We went to the Chilli Padi Nonya Restaurant at North Bridge Commercial Complex, which is right across the road from Bugis Junction. Hmm... The variety ain't very fascinating, and the food is just... normal. Costed about $15.18 after GST per person for the dinner. 美食鉴定团: 不值得

Hock Seng left to join his other friends, while the few of us Naizhu, Alan, Zhenhao, Eng Tat and I went to Bugis Junction to meet up Kim and Nana. They had dinner at Ajisen Ramen. We then walked to the open space in front of the National Museum of Singapore to watch the Night Festival. Hmm something artistic to watch. Nothing much to comment about the performance, except for the pyrotechnics display which almost lit up the whole of NMS. We then toured around the museum before going home.

11th July 2009, Saturday

Yeah Boon Keong is back from Sweden once again, therefore we met up for a meal. Only Hongming and I joined him on this mini gathering. I suggested dinner at the ION at Orchard but it wasn't open yet, therefore we went to Orchard Central to look around for new and interesting places to visit. Most of the restaurants were either packed full or empty (the Korean restaurant), therefore we went to Centrepoint to search for other places instead. Found a nice Japanese BBQ restaurant. We ordered the set meal for 2 people which was $48 and we also got the 1-for-1 ramen at $13. Quite a nice decent meal with plenty of BBQ-ed stuff. Nice! 美食鉴定团: 值得
Momotaro Tomato! (桃太郎 tomato) Tomato which looks like a peach!

Awesome!

Oishii!

Ya BK, and as expected, you're on my blog hahaha!

Another Friend Hitched

It's a super wet Sunday. Rained almost the whole day. Freaking nice day for a long nap haha. Feel so tired after the long day yesterday. ZZZzzz...

4th July 2009, Saturday

Yeah it was Juncong and Shini's big day. It's my first time being a "brother" for a friend. Dunno what's up for the day. I slept for only 3 hours and woke up at 4:45am, got ready my stuff, then went down to wait for Sim to pick me up. Then we proceeded to Cong's place. We were given a programme schedule and briefed on what we were supposed to do. I became the unofficial videographer while Sim was the backup photographer. Therefore throughout the day, I was running around with the videocam taking moments of joy for the two luckiest people on that day.

Wow we spent almost an hour outside the door of the bride playing their boliao sabo games. And somehow I din notice some cactus plants at the corner of the corridor next to the door. Got pricked by them when I was kneeling down to take some scenes from a bottom-to-top angle. Ahh! Lucky I my pants was thick enough to absorp some of the impact, but still OUCH! Looks like the jiemeis might have planned that all along ahahha. Had to eat some wasabi-filled "thing" filled with chili and some other stuff. The rest of the games were played by the other brothers while I continued filming them hehe. While filming, I had a good glipse of the people inside the house. Haha I think one or two jiemeis are quite cute hohoho. And so finally we went in, proceeded with all the procedures etc, then went back to Cong's place for a final tea ceremony. Then it was some food and drinks before we headed down to Marina Barrage for a round of photo-taking. Nice place for photos as usual.

Switched to being cameraman hehe. Had to take some pix with the couple too, as instructed by the official photographer. The weather was freaking hot, but luckily it was very windy, thus cooling off the heat.

Taking a pic of photographer taking a pic.

Mr. and Mrs. Cyclops

Very windy ah!

With all the brothers and sisters.

Ouch back aching!

Next up, we went to the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Changi Airport. Fwah nice interiors. Saw Ah Tham and Jianhao, who was Cong's campmate, as well as Wei Keong, Cong's cousin. Took up my videographer role again and filmed the whole ROM registration, which was held in front of everyone at the ballroom. Dinner was ok. Place is beautiful. And so after everything was over, we helped the couple to bring up some stuff to their room. Fwah super big and nice room. Awesome for the couple on their dongfang night lol. So it was back home to rest as it had been a long and tiring day. Wah cham gonna be brother again soon. Ahh!!
