Another Tiring Weekend, Sort Of

Slept for about 4 hours, then woke up at 7am to prepare to help out Peiyi with another of those volunteer events together with Nic. Nic and I helped to take photos for the day. We gathered at Shan You at Katong as usual, and the bus took us to Buangkok, to a place called SILRA - Singapore Leprosy Relief Association. It's a home for those elderly who suffered from leprosy but have since recovered. There were about 40+ volunteers visiting these 45 elderly. Peiyi and the organizing committee organized games and a little food fair for them. Quite interesting to interact with them. I spoke to a few, some in Cantonese, some in English. They were very happy to see us. And one kept thanking us for visiting and organizing this event for them. I wonder what their unfilial kids are doing out there. Ended just before 12. Freaking tired liao cos only slept for 4 hours. But if you see the smiles on those elderly's faces, it's all worth it. Damn you 不孝子/女!

In the end we took the bus back and Nic and I rested ourselves and filled our stomachs with food from Spageddies at Bedok. Don't try the ramen or Jap food there! Sux! Order Western food rather than Jap food!
Nic having fun shooting around.
This auntie got ticket number 100! Got a Colgate as prize. Look at her radiant smile!

Some of the cute young volunteers singing their idols' songs to entertain the elderly.

La Viva

16th April 2010, Friday

La Viva? Oh it's the name of a Spanish restaurant located at Chijmes. BK, HM and I met up for a little dinner outing and so we decided on one of the many restaurants at Chijmes. After walk around the whole place, we decided to patronize the very restaurant we see when we entered Chijmes. Quite a good ambience with Spanish decor and lighting. The waitresses were very polite too. The dishes were quite nice too. We ordered a few tapas and a paella, plus a jug of Sangria. Amounted to $125 for the final bill woot. Pretty ex for a little bit of food, but ok lah since it's Spanish food, can try try. But we all agreed Tapas Tree @ Clarke Quay would be a better place for Spanish food.
After that, we went to Raffles City's Mac for some ice-cream and more talking cok session before we went home.

Weekend Burnt

Damn tiring weekend. Haven't been waking up at 4+am since dunno when. I joined Hock in his AD wedding photography journey from gatecrashing to the final church wedding.

Quite an interesting yet exhausting profession. Which is why Hockie has got tired of it and is looking for a job with a stable stream of income. And since DSLRs are so cheap and good nowadays, there has been more competition from other AD wedding photographers than ever before. Still, as a part-time job, it's really quite a lucrative business.

It was quite a budget wedding for the couple of A & D, and with minimum sabotage from the sisters. There were only 4 sisters and 2 brothers for this gatecrashing. And the couple went to Clarke Quay for a bit of photoshoot before having a church wedding at St. Theresa's Church at Kampong Bahru yesterday. The whole thing ended at 4pm. Phew almost 12 hours. But according to Hock, it was one of the least tiring of all those wedding photography he did.
So many animals and insects came to congratulate the couple.

Coincidentally one of the wedding couples' parents were saying they wanted to buy 1026 for lottery since the wedding day was 1026 on the Chinese calendar, whereas my unit number was 1026 too. And the 1st prize was 0162! Too bad nobody bought System Roll. Otherwise it's a whopping $2000 prize! Dammit! But luckily I thought of buying iBet and so got a meagre win of $83. Minus off the amount I spent to buy, I can't even treat my family to a nice meal at some restaurant. Hahaha... but small win is also a win right? Seems like my luck is changing for the better woohoo! Tio toto next? Wahahha!

ABU vs NBU again!

Hehe just applied the anti-glare film set from Power Support to my iPhone! JH got it online with a price of $25 for 2. So we shared 1 each. Nice sia. No more oily surfaces!

Ok yesterday I met up with Nic to watch Clash of the Titans at PS. I even watched the 1981 version the night before, just to make sure I can make a good comparison between the old one and the new one. I would say there's plenty of action in the new one, cos of plenty of CG, but somehow the old one gives a better picture of the whole story. And they twisted the story for the new one. And Andromeda played by Judi Bowler in the 1981 version is much prettier hahaha! There were many mythical creatures in each version but some were only exclusive to each version's.

1981: Pegasus (only one white), Vulture, Satyr(Calibos), Cerebus(2-headed), Gorgon(Medusa), Scorpions, Kraken + a Metallic Owl

2010: Gargoyles(from Hades), Pegasus (one black and many whites), Djinn, Gorgon(Medusa), Scorpions, Kraken + the Metallic Owl made a cameo hmm...

After the movie, I went to HarbourFront Mac to study for the kanji test for the next day until KW and JH arrived. We then went to the foodcourt for dinner before heading to Peppermint Park.

Since we only had 4 tix, we did a kawarimi no jutsu to bring in the rest of us into the pub. Luckily the operation was a success. The whole pub was much more crowded than the previous ABU vs NBU match. Plenty of MU fans as expected, but plenty of Chelsea fans as well.

This time it's Manchester United vs Chelsea at Old Trafford. Can really see that MU ain't playing very well. Without Rooney they're like a bowman without a bow, a warrior without a sword. Kinda sucky. And the goals scored weren't very beautiful either. Very kelong referees. Let the winning goal scored by Drogba to be valid, even though he was offside. And there were supposedly two penalties. Sucky game lol but quite entertaining nonetheless. We were at Peppermint Park @ St. James once again for the ABU vs NBU match organized by the New Paper. Cool man. This time round I got the NBU T-shirt. Now I have both shirts hahaha. I even wore my pirated MU jersey bought for RM$10 in Malaysia lol, although I dun really support both sides.

We played the prediction game and none of us won anything. Suay sia. JH guessed the 1st half's score of 0-1 correctly but din managed to get picked for the Loreal hamper worth $300. When the match ended at 1-2, Chelsea fans were ecstatic. And they suddenly asked for Mr. LKW. KW was stunned for a while, then he went up to the MC and took pix with TNP people, Ivan Lim and some other lady. KW put a prediction of 0-9 and hence they decided to reward him for being such a Chelsea fanatic. They will give him $90 cash + 1 year free pass to IMH hahaha. Rox man 无缘无故 tio $90. Therefore after the match we went to Toastbox and he treated us to some teh and snacks haha. Nice soccer-watching session!
