Happy Birthday Singapore!

It's National Day! And I was slacking the whole day at home. Was watching Liar Game, a Japanese drama which first aired on 2007. It features Erika Toda, the actress who played Misa in Deathnote. Season 2 aired in November 2009 and the movie was out in Japan in March 2010. Now Singapore is showing on 12th August. Looks like no time to chiong the drama before the movie is out.

7th August 2010, Saturday

The long-awaited Nite Cycling was here again! Shirley and Jacenta were dying to do nite cycling again during this long weekend, therefore I organized it. Didn't expect so many people to turn up. Yaokun actually forgot about the event and NZ thought we start at 9pm -_-... Nevertheless, with Shirley's friends, we had 10 people for this event. I met up with Shirley and Jac at the round market bike shops to do some last minute shopping for Jac cos she was using her uncle's bike. She got herself a seat cover and a backlight. We then cycled down to ECP, and had dinner at the Food Village while waiting for the rest. Then we all changed the rental venue to one of the bike shops around the MacDonald's area, instead of at Family Corner, as what I proposed earlier. The 5 of them without their own bikes rented a bike each. Then we started at about 9pm. NZ would have been able to join us if he insisted on coming down lol.

So we met up with our last member, Shufen, at the end of the ECP stretch. Thus the Fellowship of the Bike was complete, and we proceeded with our plan. Dennis, took charge of leading us around the Cosy Bay area, a route which I never took before. It was a more beautiful route to take since we're just next to the river and it was solid, level ground all the way. Took the chance to snap some pix along the way. We reached a dead-end unfortunately, but it gave us a magnificent view of the CBD area, with all the spotlights shooting into the sky.
We then took another route which brought us to this place just below Benjamin Sheares. We had no choice but to climb up the staircase and onto the bridge, and pushed along the bridge. We stopped at the highest point to take some photos and just as we were about to leave, some fireworks started shooting again. Lol so zhun. It lasted just a few shots, and we were still wondering what event it was. Probably a rehearsal for YOG. When we reached the bottom of the bridge, there was no road in sight. We were stranded on an area which was all fenced up! In the end we took a route through the darkness, right between some "forested area" and then out to Nicoll Highway next to Suntec. What a crazy adventure it was. It was like an obstacle course as we had to climb over single wooden planks, push our bikes over gravel and rocks, in semi-darkness. Luckily Clifton had two Cat-Eye torchlights to light up our way.

We made it out into civilization once again. Then we stopped by the Padang and snapped some pix, before going to Clarke Quay and all the way to a prata shop, Spize, along River Valley Road. It's the same one at Simpang Bedok lol. Coincidentally I met Alvin of SCE and Chao Kiat of AHS there. So zhun. We ordered our supper and ate like we were starved for days.
After the meal, we cycled to Orchard Road. It's been a decade since I last cycled along Orchard Road? We cycled down from Central to Ion, slacked there for a while, then back towards Plaza Sing for a toilet break. Then next stop was Raffles Place. They placed some interesting art pieces just next to the MRT entrance.
Next stop, The Promontory. We cycled along the riverside and then slacked right on the outside of Marina Bay Sands.
We then carried on our last leg of our journey back to ECP. Shufen then left us to go back to Toa Payoh, on her own! Daring girl to cycle alone back to TPY late at night. The 9 of us then continued back to Tanjong Rhu and slacked in the middle of the suspension bridge. There were some Muds and Angmohs at the other end of the bridge. A few of them even jumped into the river and swam around, half naked! WTF?!? These sickos may become news headline if anything bad was to happen. At a further distance away, some groups of guys were gathering around and driving their cars onto the grass patch. And all of them were making so much noise. Those people staying in the area should be woken up by the noise, cos we saw a police vehicle driving to that area when we left later. Stupid people doing silly things.
Then it was all the way back to ECP. We stopped at Mac for some Mac breakfast. Everyone were zombiefied by then. After a full meal of hotcakes, I was all ready to chiong back home. The rest of them who rented bikes were so lucky to end their journey earlier, as they could then take a cab back home while resting on the cabs. Clif, Shir, Jac and I had to cycle all the way back.

My palms and butt were aching badly lol. But still, such an adventurous Nite Cycling is worth the all the pain, I guess.

Went home and slept all the way to 3pm. Then went down for some wanton mee, before going to Bedok Camp. It's the start of my RT session. Zhangjing and I already knew we were in this RT. Benedict was there too. Even Nicholas Chia from my office was there lol. There was ZJ's friend, Derrick there also. Also Liangwei from AHS. Also saw Nelson the ah beng there. So many familiar faces. All kena RT lol. As expected, we did very little stuff on the first session.

After the session which ended at 6+, ZJ, Derrick and I went to the Bedok Market for Cheng Tng! Haven got a chance to eat it at the last RT I had with ZJ, which was two years ago. Finally got to eat it. Wasn't very spectacular but still quite a refreshing dessert after all.

Then they left while I wait for Papa to fetch me to Expo, where the whole family then had dinner at Macau Express. Then we bought some ice-cream from Orange Julius. They actually served the ice-cream upside-down. Lol so cool. Then Mummy and Cindy went shopping at the Metro Sale. while me and Papa went to the Harvey Norman sale. There wasn't much at the Harvey Norman sale, neither did the Borders sale manage to grab anything from my wallet. All I knew was I was falling asleep while browsing through the books at Borders. All I needed was plenty of sleep lol.
