Happening Long Weekend

Today is slack at home day. Need to recuperate after spending several days and nights outside meeting up with friends and colleagues.

9th September 2010, Friday

Organized a drinking session for the Citi people. Not too bad got Aaron, Ah Nan, Seetoh, Leo and Kian Hong joined in the fun. We met up for dinner at Bedok 85 Market first. After the scrumptious meal, we then went to Happy Days pub at the interchange. Finally we managed to meet up to finish our Chivas hahaha! The pub was almost empty, except for a few uncles and aunties. We then finished up the bottle as we enjoyed the live band singing to Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" for their first song. Then I also requested them to sing any songs by OneRepublic, hence they sang "Apologize" and "Stop and Stare", my favourite OneRepublic songs.
Next, we decided that the night is still young and we should continue our drinking session at a more happening place. So Aaron suggested we go back to his place to grab his car so that we can check out Timbre @ The Substation. All were ok except Ah Nan >_<. We then picked up Yiwen at CBP who just finished work. The Timbre at the Substation was very crowded, with a long queue in front of us. So we changed to Timbre @ The Art House instead. We got a nice table in front of the stage, where Iris ft. Liza were playing for the night. This time I drank Erdinger beer. And then for the last song of the night, the band played "Use Somebody", the second time we heard the song for the night.
A famished Yiwen can't wait to bite into something.
Roasted Duck Pizza! Nice!
Next, we decided we still haven't had enough, so we walked down to Clarke Quay and had our third round of drinks at The Highlander. We got a bottle of Chardonnay, which didn't really taste very nice lol. And there it was again, "Use Somebody" was being played by the band inside the pub. Such a popular song to be played by bands.
So in one night, I tasted Chivas (whisky), Erdinger (beer) and Chardonnay (wine). Become 酒鬼 already hahaha!

10th September 2010, Friday

It's Hari Raya Puasa, and I'm meeting up with Liyang, Selina, Serene and Kiwi for Vlee Conference at Zirca. Interesting to hold a comedy performance at Zirca, and it gave me the chance to finally visit it for the first time, since the demise of Ministry of Sound. This was Vlee's 4th year running and features Irene Ang, Chua Enlai and two other guys. Chua Enlai put up a fantastic performance, as usual. I saw Alaric (Andre Chichak of the Noose), Nat Ho, Patricia Mok at the event. Nat Ho really damn handsome in person, but shorter than me lol. Selina grabbed the chance to take a pic with him. And so the show was roughly from 8 to 9:45pm, with a 15 minute interval. They parodied many current affairs, people and events such as the YOG, Lady Gaga, Jack Neo etc. Totally hilarious. Quite expensive though, with a 10% discount it's at $49.50 + $3 ticketing fee. But still quite an interesting experience. Suddenly so onz to watch such performances, the previous one being Boeing Boeing lol.
After the show ended, we went out to take a walk around Clarke Quay, before Serene and Kiwi went off, and so the three of us decided to go back to Zirca to chill, since we had the chop earlier to enable us re-entry to Zirca. The place became sort of deserted lol. We got a table near the bar counters and ordered some cranberry vodka. Luckily it's 1-for-1, cos it cost $50 for the two jugs. We sat around listening to the pumped up music, and the crowd started pouring in by 11pm. I also walked around the place, and realized that Rebel and Zirca connected. The chops on our wrists also allowed us entry to Lunar, so we went in to check out the place too. There was a Cantopop band performing on the stage, making it seem like we entered Dragonfly of St. James. We left after checking out Lunar. Woohoo finally visited three places at Clarke Quay. Now I know: Lunar, Rebel, Zirca all can enter with one cover charge. Nice!

11th September 2010, Saturday

It's MKG gathering day! See my updates here.

After the lunch, I traveled to Compass Point at Sengkang to meet up with Li Teng and Nicholas for the Gundam Fiesta. There was a huge display of Gundams from the Three Kingdoms, and also a huge hand of the RX-78-2 Gundam on the stage.
Cao Cao's red army.
Haven seen this model around. Nice smile.
The kids totally ignore the models standing behind them.
On our way to Downtown East, we saw this beautiful sunset.
Decided to try out HDR on this view. Finally created a HDR picture that I'm satisfied with. But still, I'm sure it can be improved.

After that, Nic and I went to Downtown East to meet up with Liyang, Selina, Derrick and Zhangjing for dinner and then to watch Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D. Pretty cool effects for the show. I totally can't remember what happened in the previous three prequels to this movie. Still, worth the money for the 3D and action and gore. I'm sure I'll be watching the next sequel when it's out in the future.
